Bruce - Zaki is ours
Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has hit out at rumours linking Amr Zaki with a move away from the JJB Stadium in January.
Zaki has proved a revelation since he joined the Latics on a season-long loan from Egyptian side Zamalek in the summer.
The striker's clinical nature in front of goal has sparked rumours that a number of top European clubs could look to prise him away from Wigan in the New Year.
But Bruce has dismissed the suggestions while calling on Zaki to battle for his place in the side after spending time on the sidelines.
"It does become a bit repetitive and boring," he said.
"It is Chelsea this week, Real Madrid last week, Liverpool the week before, Man City before that. I think the whole thing needs to be addressed really.
"He is ours for the rest of the season.
"I know he has done well, but he's missed the last month (with injury) and he needs to make sure he starts playing and gets in our team - because that won't be easy for him either.
"All of this nonsense around him, I do believe gets to him a little bit. But I can't stop this constant speculation about Zaki."
